Tazorac for Acne

There is a mountain of different products out there that promise to fight acne, and some of them are fairly expensive, which can be rather disappointing when they don’t work, and more frustrating when you have to endure pain and discomfort to discover that fact.  Fortunately for most users who decided to take a chance on Tazorac, they got pretty much what they paid for, to their satisfaction.

Tazorac is a retinoid cream that comes in two concentrations, 0.05 percent and 1 percent, of its primary ingredient, tazarotene.  Both strengths of the product are designed to fight various levels of acne, as well as certain other skin conditions.  Tazarotene has the interesting quality of being chemically dormant until it penetrates the skin, after which it converts into tazarotenic acid begins to eradicate existing acne and prevent outbreaks from occurring in the future.  The key is the active product’s interaction with skin, causing it not only to clear up, but to restore itself to a healthier state.  The formula is rather potent, and it is well-known among users that application of Tazorac will result in certain negative side effects, which include dry and reddened skin, stinging and itching sensations, and the feeling that one has been out in the sun far too long.  In some cases, the skin irritation will be aggravated, and skin flaking may occur.  To make things more agonizing for users, Tazorac could take about four weeks before one begins to notice any tangible improvements, and before then, the flaking, irritation, outbreaks and worsening inflammation will mean that one’s skin will most likely look terrible before the full effects of the tazarotenic acid sink in.

Once the initial period of enduring side effects has concluded, however, Tazorac truly demonstrates the quality for which it is renowned.  Many users have nothing but praises for Tazorac, which they turned to after lesser, cheaper alternative treatments simply did not do anything for their skin.  People afflicted with severe acne, which includes cyst formation and skin nodules, report that their skin is much smoother, their cysts have disappeared, and their once enlarged and unsightly pores have shrunk, giving them a brighter, fresher appearance.  The flaking and itching eventually give way to skin that hearkens back from before the acne afflictions, and most consumers are satisfied with the overall results.  Of course, the potency of the product is partially dependent on the unique properties of each person’s skin, so a few unlucky individuals did not receive any substantial benefits from usage, but the general consensus regarding Tazorac is that it truly alleviates even the most severe acne cases.

Because of Tazorac’s relative harshness as an acne treatment, it is only available by prescription, to be used only when a patient proves unresponsive to milder forms of medication.  Dermatologists recommend using a moisturizer in conjunction with Tazorac, usually before applying the product, to counteract the flaking and dryness of skin that the tazarotenic acid causes.  Also, the strength of Tazorac is no excuse to forego a vigilant cleansing and washing regimen, with a soap that will not irritate or siphon away all of the natural skin oil.
